'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an incredible recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win booked a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after they changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, his father, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
