Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of that year.
Success also means he has secured 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.
He rescued four early chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
